We at wastedMail.com believe the direct mail industry can be improved by partnering with sites like this that provide the public a centralized way to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the direct marketing process.

WastedMail.com began as an after school project for forth graders in Vista, CA who were looking for ways to help save the planet. Their ambition, desire and dedication to the project has motivated many others to join in an contribute time and resources to the point where wastedmail.com has become a true grass-roots movement. The fact that kids, the next generation, has embraced this movement, lends hope to the future as we try to better manage our earthly resources.

WastedMail.com collects public feedback from users that would like to better manage the resources that are being dedicated to them by advertisers using Direct Mail Marketing through the U.S. Postal Service. We maintain a repository of merchant electronic contact information that is kept up to date by volunteers who contribute to the project. Batch processing takes place every night at 11:45 pm PST, and notifications are sent to merchants and Direct Mail Association distribution centers. Responses are input into the merchant status database, which in turn is made available to the public via this website.
